Creative Blogger Award

creative-bloggers-award

I was nominated by Filipa on A Very Fashionable Blog! Thank you! [Go take a look at Filipa’s blog, it’s lovely!] 🙂

The ‘rules’ are:

Thanking the person who nominated you, and posting their blog link

Share 7 facts about yourself

Nominate 20 blogs and let them know, passing on the rules.

**I TAG ALL OF YOU READING THIS**

You don’t have to do it if you don’t want to of course, but if you do link your post in the comments below so I can read them! 🙂

My rather uninteresting facts:

 1. I get my left and rights mixed up all the time, apparently it’s a ‘dancer’s thing’ and they often have trouble with left and rights if they start from about preschool age? If you dance(d), particularly when you were little, do you have trouble too!? I’m dying to know. I danced from about four/five years old until a few years ago, so perhaps that’s true, who knows.

2. I love cheesecake so much.

3. I’m severely pork intolerant and I get sick and tired of telling people, and then hearing them say things like ‘Oh, Alice can’t have the pork, she’s Jewish…’ I’m not, piggies just make me very very sick! (I have no issue with Jewish people, but I’d rather people know that licking a spoonful of pork gravy would probably render me lavatory bound, and that ‘eh, she’ll be fine if we use the same spoon’ just wont cut it. Soooo please don’t risk it!)

4. Me and my sisters have an extensive dressing up box made up from all the dance costumes we used to wear. My Mum made most of them and I used to love dressing up and becoming somebody else. I swear it’s why I love drawing on my face with eyeliner now…

5. Paloma Faith is the reason I breath sometimes. She is amazing and I could write an essay on how brilliant she is, but I wont.

6. I’ve never been diagnosed as dyslexic, but I get letters mixed up an awful lot. Recently, it took a rather embarrassing phone call for someone to correct my pronunciation and spelling of Anlaby… I’d been writing and calling it ‘Anal-by’.  😥

7. I can play the piano. Plinky plonk.

So there you go! Like I said, if you want to give this a go, feel free to pop your link in a comment 🙂

One Lovely Blog Award

Evening! 🙂

I was nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award a couple of weeks ago, but one thing has led to another and so posting it has been a bit, er… delayed! I was nominated by thoughtsandthings, so thank you! 🙂 I’m sure she would love it if you hopped on over and cast your eyes on her gorgeous blog! If you’re nominated for the award, then follow the steps below too! 🙂

lovely-blog-award

The Rules:

  1. You must display the award logo at the top of the post.
  2. You must thank the person/people who nominated you and leave a link to their blog in your post.
  3. You must add this set of rules so your nominees will know what to do.
  4. You must add 7 facts about yourself in the post.
  5. You must nominate 3-5 other blogs and leave links to their blogs in the post.
  6. You must let the people know you’ve nominated them.
  7. You must follow the person who nominated you on Bloglovin (if you don’t have Bloglovin, then obviously skip this!)

7 Facts:

1. I have a gorgeous 1 year old Horsfield tortoise called Nozzy, he is my shell baby.

2. I am 5ft 1.5inches in the morning, 5ft and a half an inch by the evening. Every .5 of an inch counts when you’re a short cake. It scares me to think that I shrink an inch during the day.

3. I grew up with the most perfect and lovable fluffy ginger cat, he used to let me pretend he was a horse and I could do anything with him. For some reason I’m now terrified of cats, I think they’re cute and will ‘aww’ over pictures, but holding one, um. No. Not happening.

4. I go into a state of mourning when they stop making ginger bread lattes. There’s a small cafe in Lincoln that does them all year round, it is my summer home.

5. I used to use sellotape on my nose to get rid of black heads (I know, gross…) It worked really well, but dried out my poor nose! 😦

6. I don’t really like meat. I’m not a vegetarian, I just don’t get the meat hype. I hate the way it looks, and I can’t eat it if there’s fat. If I find gristle it puts me off and my biggest nightmare is streaky bacon and fatty stewing steak. It’s chewy, doesn’t taste great… what is the point *sigh*.

7. I often wake up with ‘amazing ideas’ that I write down. If I read them in the morning they’re just plain weird, like ‘banana pens with a reusable skin’ and the most recent ‘a kettle you can boil fish and peas in’. I worry about my subconscious mind, I really do.

Updated Leibster Award! <3

Eeek! This is the third time I have been nominated for the Leibster Award! This time around it was by the LOVELY Imogen at Little Awkward Fox, I absolutely love reading her gorgeous blog (and I know you will too, so go give it a look!)

For those of you who are knew to the whole Leibster Shabister, here are the rules:

1. Display the Liebster Award logo on your blog
2. Thank and link back to the person who has nominated you
3. List 11 facts about yourself
4. Answer the 11 questions they have posted
5. Create 11 questions to ask
6. Choose your own nominations

The 11 facts:

1. I still build things with LEGO.

2. I got my first lipstick aged 6, I swapped my friend a Beanie Baby for it. The lipstick was from a Top of the Pops magazine, silver and glittery.

3. I panic about the silliest of things, but I’m usually pretty calm if the shit hits the fan (Go figure…)

4. I liked cars, LEGO, trains and basically ‘boys’ toys as a kid, but I did have a special Barbie Anastacia who I still have somewhere. I think I ventured into the realm of Betty Spaghetty too, but somehow never got on with Barbies.

5. I’ve been writing a ‘book’ since I was 15. It’s turned into 5 and I keep switching between stories, all slightly incomplete. I hope they make sense once day.

6. I hate mint. Toothpaste is the bane of my life.

7. I once touched Captain Maggots bum at a concert. Still haven’t washed that hand. *mad laugh*

8. I love World of Warcraft, The Sims(2,3…) and Clash of Clans a little tooooo much.

9. The only school play I’ve ever played a ‘main part’ in I sat all the way through picking my nose. I was 4, but even so, I never got a main part again!!!

10. I hate the feeling of wet hair, it makes me feel sick. I usually keep it in a towel too long and then end up with an epic fail quiff.

11. I jumped off the third deck of a boat in Greece and back flopped the sea (one of the most painful experiences ever, I thought I’d broken my neck as I went numb all over). Everyone clapped and thought it was great… I’m now admitting I wasn’t being ‘cool’ I merely stood on the railing to ‘judge the situation’ and fell. Ah well. B-)

Questions:

1. What do you like to blog about? Probably a little bit of everything. I was very hard in the start to ‘stick to a theme’ as such. I’ve managed to keep it beauty themed somehow, although I occasionally get sidetracked and blog other things!

2. What’s the story behind your blog? I got sick and tired of being the clumsy, non-girly girl. I started a job in a warehouse and felt smothered by the atmosphere, I couldn’t be me, even on my days off I, so it was like an ‘up yours’ to that part of my life haha. I’ve always liked make-up and being creative with it,I’ve just hidden behind other things.

3. Where are you from? Born ‘n’ bred in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, UK. I lived in a village called Clipstone which is next door to Sherwood Forest, which is in NOTTINGHAMSHIRE not Nottingham… Just for the record. 😉

4. What’s your No 1 place to visit? I don’t know. I like being by the sea, I’m not really a specific place person, usually I’ll go anywhere so long as I’m with people I like. 🙂

5. Who inspires you? Again, I have no idea. There are so many, and it depends on my mood as to who I ‘go to’, although I am obsessed with Helena Bonham Carter, her style, attitude, argh she is amazing. Keith Lemon, for being an offensive and overly daring person and getting away with it. Zoella, for letting me cry over her anxiety vidoes on more than one occasion. Brian Blessed for just being an all over legend… and Jamie Oliver, for adding cheese to everything, my kind of man!

6. What is the one goal you are working towards? World domination, mainly. Ha. If I could be the next J.K. Rowling/ Terry Pratchett Hybrid I would be pretty happy, realistically, I’ll just go with a job I like, money to blow and a Mini Cooper.

7. What is your dream bag? Hermione’s beaded bag in Harry Potter, the one that fits everything in it. Although saying that, I’d lose my car keys more and that lipstick would be rolling around in the bottom for the rest of eternity.

8. What is your all time favourite book? I’ve read all of the Edgeworld Chronicles, I think my favourite is The Curse of the Gloamglozer. Apparently I liked Steampunk before I knew it had an official name. *fistpump* so proud of my 11 year old self.

9. Can you speak more than one language? Nope. C’est la Vie! Is all I can manage really.

10. What is currently your favourite song? Lee Brice, ‘I don’t dance’. But only if I’m in a bla mood. It’s my equivalent of a Rom Com. Usually I can listen to most things. SIA, ‘Chandelier’ has been replayed more times than is healthy this month, for example.

11.  If you could meet anyone in the world who would it be? I have this fear, that if I want to meet someone really badly, they’ll either think I’m a crack pot and hate me, or they’ll turn out to be jerks and then I wont like them anymore. 😦 So I don’t know really…

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award

sisterhood1

Hola! *tilts sombrero* … just kidding, I don’t even own a sombrero. 😥

I have been nominated for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers award by the lovely Eleanor over at Blush and Bluebells! She is linked so take a gander! I love her blog and I’m sure you guys will too. Thank you Eleanor!!! 😀

Ze rules are as follows:

The Rules

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you, linking back to their site.

2. Put the award logo on your blog.

3. Answer the ten questions they have set you.

4. Make up ten new questions for your nominees to answer.

5. Nominate ten people

1. What is your favourite foundation?

At the moment I’m using the Rimmel London Wake Me Up foundation, shade ivory to be precise. I have to admit this is my favourite drug store foundation find to date, although I have read a few reviews and may branch out a little when this bottle runs out.

2. What’s your favourite face mask, if you use them?

I like the LUSH ones, but I know they can be a bit on the expensive side and they don’t keep for long. I admit that they do wonders for my skin in a way no packet mask has ever done before but recently I just can’t be bothered with the LUSH hassle as there isn’t one close by. But failing that my favourite drug store masks are the chocolate range by Montagne Jeunesse. I found a pack of 5 masks for £1 in the Co Op the other week and they are great value for money. You can also get two treatments out of one packet as well. Bargain! Amazon do the Food Feast versions quite cheap too 🙂

3. What are some makeup products you have and like but don’t use very often?

Usually certain shades of lipstick that I either can’t get away with at work, or shades that only have a select few outfits that they go with. I also like the Collection mosaic bronzer, but find that it can be quite glittery. Oh! And the MUA Starry Night pallet, I love the colours but sometimes find that they’re a bit too much for everyday wear.

4. What is your favourite lipstick/lipgloss?

The Kate Moss lipsticks from Rimmel London ❤

5. How long do you spend, on average, doing your makeup everyday?

Er, it I’m off to work about 10 minutes tops, if I have time and nowhere really to go I can take ages. I don’t even time myself haha. On a night out I usually give myself a good 30 minutes.

6. What is your favourite palette?

MUA Heaven and Earth. I have so much love for the MUA pallets.

7. Name the hair care products you couldn’t live without.

TRESemme. They’ve always pulled through when other shampoos and conditioners have failed.

8. What makeup products have you used that were raved about, and you found to be just as good as everyone said?

The Bourjois bronzer (the Delice de Poudre one the smells like chocolate). I have it in shade 52… not really sure what the difference is between shade 52 and shade 51, I did sit and stare at them in Superdrug for ages trying to decide which was best. Luckily 52 suits my skin perfectly. *fist pump*

9. What is your favourite mascara and why?

I have yet to find what I would class as my perfect mascara, still on the long road of mascara discovery. I basically buy what looks nice, what’s on offer and what’s waterproof! At the moment the GOSH Waterproof Volume Mascara is what I’m currently loving 🙂

10. What brand does the best nail polish in your opinion?

My mum used to use Revlon at lot, so they were my first proper nail polishes. (Well not mine, I would borrow them!) So I have a soft spot for them. They do some lovely rich colours and I can get about 4 days out of them before my nails chip. I also like Avon nail polishes, they’re pretty cheap and they do loads of colours. The bottles are pretty big too. Providing you use topcoat etc. Avon polishes last for a good few days without chipping.

MY QUESTIONS:

1. How old were you when you started wearing make-up?

2. Would you ever buy a high end make-up product without reading a review?

3. When was the last time you had a make-up stash clear out?

4. What is the oldest item in your make-up bag or stash, and how long has it been there?

5. Favourite item of clothing and why?

6. What do you have a habit of buying even though you have plenty already? (eg. nail polish, lipsticks, eye shadows…)

7. When it comes to lipstick do you favour Nude lips, crazy colours or the Vampy look? (or another, I can’t think of any more!)

8. How many pairs of shoes do you own?

9. What was the last beauty product you finished?

10. What’s the most expensive piece of make up you’ve bought and was it worth the purchase?

The Leibster Award! #1

Hi everyone! I have been nominated for the Leibster Award by the wonderful The Little Scottish Corner ! Yay! 🙂
Image

I have been given 11 questions to answer, but if anyone else wants to ask me something feel free to! Here we go:

1. Can you remember what your first piece of make-up was?

I’ve been wearing make-up (on and off) since I was about 5… before you all sit there and jaw drop I used to dance at the Theatre, and you HAD to wear make up on stage. I used to wear foundation, blush, eye shadow, eye liner and liptsick. I’m not sure if they were my mums or if she bought them especially for me to use for the theatre but they were all Boots No. 7 products and I used to love to smell the make up bag she used as it smelt oddly comforting. I used to hate it when my mum applied my lipstick or eye shadow as it used to tickle something terrible! I’m pretty sure the first bit of make-up I wore out of the theatre was a freebie from a magazine. Some friends of my mum and dads used to own a news agents, and they would collect all the free things that used to fall out of the magazines in transit and give them to me and my sister whenever they visited. When I was about 7 or 8 years old I managed to bag some tacky lipstick. It came in a lovely blue tube (probably why I chose it as I loved blue!) I think it had white snow flakes or stars on the tubing… either way the lipstick was SILVER and to top it all off it was glitter loaded. Yeah. I used to be ‘scared’ to wear it in front of people, so me and a friend used to dress up and wear it. We must have looked hilarious. Looking back it may have been from a top of the pops magazine… *face palm* so embarrassing.

2. Do you prefer summer or winter trends?

Errr, winter I think. Because I don’t like to ‘bare skin’ as such. I feel uncomfortable in short sleeves and shorts. Give me some tights, leggings and some funky slippers any day. Usually by the time Christmas is over I’m looking longingly at summery clothes though.

3. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Finland, I’m in love with the idea of that place. It’s just so beautiful.

4. Least favourite food?

I’m not a huge fan of really spicy foods. Oh and quiche. I absoluletly cannot stand quiche, it is one of those foods I can’t even force myself to swallow, it makes me gag. Egg custards too, although this is because I don’t like how they look, my sister used to love them and I used to hate the way the custardy jelly middle used to come away from the pastry. *blurgh*

5. Do you have any siblings and did you get along with them?

I do, 3 of them in fact! 4 if you count the dog hehe. I have 3 sisters, all younger than me. I get on with all of them, but there is a big gap between myself and sister 2 and sister 3 so our relationship is slightly different to the one sister 1 and I have. Myself and sister 1 are only 3/4 years apart. And if you count the dog, then we get on so long as he’s had a bath and isn’t barking at next doors cat. 🙂

6. Favourite colour and least favourite colour?

Blue is my favourite, like an icy blue or the blue colour of the ‘publish post’ button. I really hate a certain shade of blue, its the primary shade of blue you often see on cars, or in those paint bottles in school. I don’t really like the colour Ochre either, its like a mash up of orange, yellowy mustardness. It makes me feel sick.

7. Do you collect anything?

Not really, not hard core collecting anyway. I used to collect Jasmine Becket fairies, the little ornaments, not the paintings she does. I’m not keen on the paintings, but in ornament form I think they’re so cute! I have several of them but I sort of stopped collecting because I had nowhere to put them. I don’t look at them online anymore because it makes me want to buy them all. I used to collect buttons, sequins, stickers and lego men when I was a child.

8. In a years time can you still see yourself blogging?

Yes, even if no one is listening I’ll still be babbling on my little corner of the internet. Maybe I’ll be the blogging equivalent of the crazy cat lady? Who knows!

9. Best drugstore product and best high end product?

A few weeks ago I think I would have found this difficult to answer, but recently I have discovered the Collection 2000 brightening and concealer pen for the best drugstore product. It doesn’t last very long but it is by far the BEST concealer I have used to date. Currently my favourite high end product is Boots No.7, I love their eye liner, foundation and mascara but if I had to pick one it would be their ‘exceptional definition’ mascara. It iss the bee’s knees.

10. Signature hairstyle?

I usually just wear my hair down, and just style my fringe, I don’t know what you would call my signature hair style! If I wear my hair up 9/10 times I will put it in a pony tail and then clip it up so it goes all ‘poofy’? I’ve just asked a friend on facebook and they said whenever they think of me they think of me with two plaits… but that hair style makes me look 12, so I don’t wear it often.

11. All time favourite band of musician?

My music taste changes like the wind. I usually listen something to death and then can’t stand listening to it again for months. But Kate Bush is my all time favourite, Enya and Within Temptation are my current favourites… and the Frozen album is also on my top 10 amazing music list at the moment.

The Leibster rules state I have to choose 11 bloggers who have 200 followers or less. BUT as I’m really not sure how many followers you guys all have, I’m just going to pick 11 of you, should you choose to accept of course! :0)
